usb ipod cable --will it work on mac?

the firewire port on my powerbook seems to be causing my computer to crash every time i plug my ipod in. can i use the usb ipod cable to transfer my music from my mac? thanks, matt

I am not completely sure, but i think the usb 2 cable can only be used for windows computers. I just bought a new 30 gb ipod and remember seeing something in the instuction book or on the box about that.

Edit: I cannot find the phrase saying that you couldn't. Try consulting apple's knowledge base. If you can i think you have to buy a cable from apple for it.

Bummer you have to use USB. SOooooo slow compared to Firewire.

usb 2.0 is windows only, however it doesn't mention usb 1.1
