Do you know what it fixes, recommended for 20 & 24" new iMacs?

It's more then likely video driver updates.

I'd view the package contents but I'm on a Windows machine.

Oh lord.. I hope the freezing problems have been fixed! I didnt find the graphics performance lacking to begin with, but the freezing was making me pretty mad to say the least.
Just installed on my iMac now, so will report back later..

http://www.apple.com/support/downloa...eupdate11.html

Anyone want to speculate what it does?

Yeah, that appeared in mine last week.

I don't know what it was for, but I installed it and everything went fine.

Is this just for the brand new aluminum imacs, or also for the previous version?

Edit: Nevermind, I see on the Apple support page that the requirement is "iMac (mid 2007)"

Well, this is fantastic news considering the iMac (2.4ghz 20") that I ordered yesterday shipped this morning, as opposed to the 2-4 business days the Apple store lists. Have to see how this effects real world game and GPU utilizing applications like Motion, etc.

Surprised they didn't just do this with 10.4.11, but of course not complaining.

I just installed it, gonna run some apps and games to see if there's a noticeable improvement. I'm also hoping it fixes some of the resolution problems I've been having.

If it's only just come out today, I must be thinking of another update.

I'll have to try it tonight...

If it's graphics drivers I'm more interested in Bootcamp drivers though.

10.x.y updates are normally for OS Changes across all platforms. This only fixed some iMac modles so it is probably easier to distribute it out to the people who need it. Then add to the complexity of a 10.x.y upgrade.

It's a minor software update.

The "Aluminum" iMac Update 1.1 installs a later version of the Radeon HD 2400/2600 driver (1.5.8.9), but it is NOT faster. We just reran all our 3D game tests. Doom 3 is 8% faster, Quake 4 is 9% faster, and Prey is 18% faster under the OLD driver (1.5.6.12) compared to the newer driver. This update may include bug fixes but it is obviously NOT the performance optimized version that is supposedly being developed by AMD.

If this is the reasoning behind making it a page 2 story then I think that policy should be changed.

What do you mean exactly?

It's a minor software update limited to only one model. Even Pro Applications updates make it here onto Page 2.
