Just got email with all ADC members?

I just received a series of 27 emails containing what looks like every (?) ADC member's email address. The subject lines are "WWDC 2003 Sessions Now Available on ADC TV n/27". There doesn't seem to be any actual message content beyond these addresses. Anyone else receive this? Weird weird weird. 😱
 
Money making opportunity?? 250,00 e-mail address I wonder how much spammers would pay. I would imagine they are almost all valid.

(For the record I am NOT saying that is what you should do but just a thought.)

Well, I have two email addresses where I get the ADC emails (one private, and one at work). The one at work received this wierd email.....
BTW, that emailaddress starts with an "a", and my private with an "e". So, maybe Apple fixed the problem before the mail server was able to send to addresses starting with an "e" or higher ???? Thoughts?

Yep. Well, I think I am. The free kind of member... I'm on the mailing list, at least, but I don't really do anything with it.

The address at which I received the emails started with an 'a' in case that makes a difference.

I purchase email address; at 8 cents each.

That comes out to about 20 grand... however people need to be in your target market, and I am not in the business of spamming Apple Developers. Also people need to opt in/out of your email.

However, if they golf 🙂 Hey.. I will happily paypal someone 50 bucks for them to forward me the address'.

Spammers would pay top dollar for developers...

I just got a good 45 emails with the SoBig worm on my .Mac account. My hatred for spammers is renewed. ::beats D0ct0rteeth with a live trout::
 
Actually to avoid any more live trout beatings 🙂 I run several opt in email lists... no porn or usual crap... mostly golf and other sporting goods.

The user can remove their name at any time by clicking a link and in all honesty I receive 40% success on an average bulk email.

However, that percentage comes from me purchasing extremeley large lists and well over 80% of thoise people unsubscribing.

I am running a real business and consider this sales. I dont send scams, and I dont send porn. I dont harrass people. I consider it safe to say most of my customers consider it a service and I do not abuse that relationship. This is just an opportunity for me to reach more people.

To differentiate between legit and spam, I use this simple rule: If the email adress looks professional, i.e. someone's name, I'll think it's legit. If it's something like this: sd1985jlkjfg@whatever.com, I think, hmmm, that's probably spam.

ok then maybe you can tell me why every time i try to "unsubscribe" from this supposed legit "spam", that i get some sort of confirmation, then the next day i get the same stupid spam again, and again!😡 yeah thats right, im pissed!🙄

There are almost no legit spam lists, you offering money for the names of the ADC people is proof of this.

And a 40% rate of deletion from list, yeah thats waaaay where is should be.

40% ... is not a success.

The last time I sign un-subscribe they keep me on the list AND guess what?

My spam goes up 20%!

Am I the only one who doesn't get spam!? I have had the same personal e-mail address for several years and a lot of people have me in their address books etc, yet I have never got any spam whatsoever 😱 I have another address where I register memberships and stuff with though so maybe thats the key..

Well I guess I shouldn't be complaining 🙂

The unsubscribe link tells them they have a legit e-mail, and they want to spam it more.😡

In other words, you're a spammer - The lowest of life forms. Even paedophiles deserve more respect than people like you. Opt-out unsolicited email is SPAM. I didn't ask for it, and you're not sending the queer sporting goods proposals, or whatever scam you're running because the recipient is a friend of yours. Quit trying to justify what you do and get a real job instead of contributing to the problem of completely rendering email useless.

No, you don't. You're a scam artist who's trying to sell crap over the internet by volume advertising methodology - "Throw enough crap at the wall and something will stick".

I shouldn't be forced to unsubscribe from your idiotic newsletter or sales pitch. That's time I'll never get back. Every spammer uses your defense in saying that people can choose to opt-out. Multiply that by millions of ignorant oportunists like yourself and my inbox is now filled with 100 spam emails daily. Opening every single one of them and unsubscribing by clicking links (which are not uniform), is taking a huge chunk out of my time. So how isn't that spamming again?

You give Mac users a bad name and your business ideology sickens me.
 
Oh please, Doc's the lowest life form? You haven't been around PC's and tried going into IRC looking for warez and such. The things people do there make Doc seem like an angel.

Besides, there are good spammers out there.

It's the same with regular mail. You get tons and ton of junk mail, but every now and again you might get some coupons from say Papa Johns which have great deals on them. You keep those and throw the rest.
 
What the hell is the matter with you people? The good Doctor here is making an honest living. I hate spam as much as the rest of you, but from the sounds of it, Dr. Teeth isn't a malicious spammer like most are.

It seems that perhaps he targets his email so that only people that are likely to be genuinely interested in golfing equipment, and then he provides a reliable way to opt out of the email. Already he earns about a million points in my book over the typical spammer.

He's just doing his job. It's called MARKETING. He advertises his product in an efficient manner and tries not to intrude on other peoples' lives. So far, I think he's doing better than the companies that send me junk snail mail as well as telemarketers that call me at any hour they please. He's selling legitimate products to people he honestly thinks may have an interest in them. Based on your responses to his profession, I think he's better than the lot of you.

Cut the crap, folks. Dr. Teeth, you're all right in my book.

Not all people who send out bulk e-mail are spammers, though they do get turned in quite a bit to spamcop and the other sites.

Heck even the free trial offer of Viagra could be useful.

not when it actually says "ffree trail offer for viaggra" etc..., hehehe. i get those alll the time, like theyre offering something, but they spell a bunch of words wrong, hoping that people wont notice?! a big W-T-F?!?!?! to that one... 🙄

and about Dr. Tooth man, what makes me think he isnt running a halfway decent mailing ad list, is that hes willing to pay a $100 for these email addresses.😡
