My friend says you can buy the applecare after the one year original warranty is up. True? Here is the conversation:

ah i see...too late for applecare tho
y
i can renew it anytime within 3 years of purchase
says where
renew? you never even purchased it!
says the genius bar
renew/extend
nope can only extend within one year of purchase
applecare extension is only 2 years to your 1 year that you get when you buy the thing
yeap
nope because applecare is 3 years total from date of purchase and is not prorated
so they make more money the longer you wait to buy it
even so, you can't get it after one year from original purchase
but I was told by Glendale Apple that as long as its within the 3 years of purchase I can get applecare or procare. Because when I was there getting my macbook serviced someone was getting his ibook fixed and he bought procare well after his 1st year

lol not enough responses in that thread
don't look!
point it out on apple's website
i am looking at it now and it says nothing. So if I bought it online Apple would have to legally give my money back
never says anything about it on the apple website
" •
• You can purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan anytime within the one-year limited warranty period. Your eligibility for coverage under the AppleCare Protection Plan starts from your hardware purchase date."

You've told me this before and I believed you
but it was wrong
now I can't buy applecare anymore
why dont you call applecare
it never says you cant after your one year period
it just says you can and it wont effect your one year period
You're the only one that seems to think this is true!

You're like Galileo saying the Earth is round
when everyone is sayinf it's flat
Why don't you just call applecare
I was told by an Apple employee that it made no difference when I bought it
because it really does make no difference if they are going to warranty your **** for 3 years max from date of purchase
you gain nothing from waiting and they gain more for you waiting

that may be true but it sounds like that apple employee was on crack

so is it true? I WANT TO KNOW!!!

Sunny but Cold.. Canada
Not sure...

Seems like an Argument Best Solved by talking to APPLE :apple:...

Perhaps like a Glass Policy on a Vehicle w/ some Insurers, you may be required to have "the Vehicle" inspected to allow it to be Insured after the One Year Period is up...???!! That would mean No Goofy "Buy IT Now That It's Broken" sort of Deals!!

I would have waited to Buy a Policy til needed if I didn't Crash My Car into a tree too!! :D

Nope, Apple doesn't budge on this. You won't be able to register the AppleCare to your computer's serial of the DOP was over a year ago.

Let me fire up Common Sense 2.0

I let my 1 year warranty lapse.
My computer takes a dump.
I go buy AppleCare and expect Apple to pay for the repair.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

That's what I thought also! It makes absolutely no sense! Sigh...despite this I still listened to him because he said an employee told him so.
