Macworld Expo San Francisco 2008 Open for Registration

Macworld Expo has opened registration for January 2008.

The 2008 Macworld Conference & Expo takes place between January 14 - 18, 2008 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, CA. The keynote address will likely take place on Tuesday, January 15th, 2008 with the expo floor opening immediately afterward.

Apple announced the iPhone at the 2007 Macworld Expo, and early rumors are pointing to at least a MacBook Pro update at 2008 expo. A circulating priority code (08-E-VF01) promises free Exhibit Hall passes until October 5th.

MacRumorsLive will return in January for keynote coverage, and this year MacRumors will provide extended Macworld Expo floor coverage. Vendors exhibiting should feel free to contact us for possible coverage.

I think it would be hilarious (but also, actually, really disappointing) if the 2008 keynote consists ONLY of macbook pro updates and iphone socks.

Hey, maybe just for kicks, they'll throw in some iPodFatty socks, too!

Mac Pro needs some love. Maybe the rest of the guts will catch up to the processor. New cinema displays would be nice as well.

Bump. It's been since 2004 and they haven't had a major update, they're well overdue...

Any one else have the feeling Leopard might be delayed till Macworld Expo 2008?

If you mean the Cinema Displays, there have been a few stealth updates, they increased the brightness, contrast ratio and response time at least once for each size since the new design.

I think the designs are still fine, though Apple might try to make it look more like iMac. A built-in camera would be nice, but I'd prefer they use a nice camera rather than a phone camera.

Mac Pro can be updated at some pro expo. There are some exceptions, but Apple usually doesn't update their pro hardware at a consumer expo, consumer expos usually have consumer product updates instead.

Does this mean coverage of new products from other companies at the expo? That would certainly be a nice addition.

Hope updated/new MacBook Pro and Mac Pro come out before January. Need to buy them in this calendar year! Always seemed silly that the big new things are released after Christmas and end-of-year tech buying. Probably is because as far back as I can remember, MacWorld Expo SF has always been in January.

Free Pass

Does anyone know what the difference is between the free "Exhibits Only" pass we can get with the code and the "Exhibits Only Enhanced" pass?

I can't tell.

From what I can remember, there's a special lounge area with free wireless access, a limited edition t-shirt and a discount at the MacWorld Expo store.

This is as bad as Xmas music starting at Labor Day. If I let you guys start me thinking about MacWorld 2008 this early I would end up going crazy. When I lived in San Francisco (1985-90) I wish there had been Macworld conventions, now it takes all my strength to keep from going (I now live in Georgia) so I can use the saved money to by the expensive toys being introduced there. I'm due for a notebook next year.

Yep, and it will probably be a separate section like the iPhone area. Big announcements, Apple announcements on the front page of course.

Things I'd like to see @ MWSF '08:
1. Updated MacBook Pros
2. Sanata Rosa MacBooks
3. Updated Mac Pros
4. Updated xServes (but probably won't)
5. Updated cinema displays w/ higher resolutions & builtin iSights
6. iPhone software updates (iTunes Wi-fi store, games, new/enhanced features, etc.)
7. Status on how 10.5 is doing & what software is taking advantage of it
8. iLife '08 Leopard version (would be cool to add Core Animation effects to iMovies & iPhoto slideshows)

I predict that Apple will announced iLife '07 at MWSF '08, since they missed their chance at MWSF '07.

And if I'm right, I'll eat my hat.
