omg that last mockup incredible

i think if any laptop is going to get the glass black screen itll be the macbook becuase it is part of the consumer line of products such as the imac

much omg....that multi touch screen pad thingy would be increds, unfortunately i dont see it happening...wed know about something that amazing by now...surely?? i cant imagine the being put into a macbook...looks expensive

and i wouldnt imagine them putting something like that ONLY in a macbook pro and not the macbooks...because if multitouch is the way apple are going theyd put in their whole laptop range...(id think) ...if only the macbook pro was to get a multi touch screen pad thingy the macbook would only get it a year later

plastic case

It'll be a little sad to see the white plastic design finally laid to rest, I kind of like it.
My old ibook holds up MUCH better than my Powerbook, and gets MUCH better wireless reception. I really was kinda sad as well to see the glass and metal imacs, my mom has a Plastic white one, and I think it is much more durrable and looks cooler... but that is just me.

Macbook Pro Touch??? I would never buy that machine... and I HATE the new MB keyboards, i better get a new Pro before they change..

Tough call really. I hope they go bold on the new redesigns and create something we aren't expecting. All I know is, the pro line is going to be mine when they redesign it come January.

Here are my very wild guesses, thinking differently

What if Apple puts the missing optical drive inside the new Cinema Displays with built-in iSights. Imagine also being able to watch DVD movies using the Front Row remote control. This isn't so far-fetched...just look at the iMacs, except Cinema Displays don't have CPUs inside them.

Next, what if the Apple TV is redesigned for Safari and iChat use with the new Bluetooth keyboard?

Both help Apple sell Cinema Displays, AppleTVs and Bluetooth Keyboards as well take over the living room.

Magnetic latch, instead of "old" MBP latch? That and the speaker-placement are the only minor niggles I have, other than the one major one: the size of the Touch Pad.

Shrink the Touch Pad down do iPhone/iPod Touch size and you've got what I've been hoping for. Also - in a view like that, wouldn't it make more sense for the iTunes list view to be on the main screen, and CoverFlow down on the Touch Pad (with overlaid music controls)? Would love to see this mockup with some other apps running - GarageBand (sliders on the Touch Pad?), iMovie (movie preview or similar on the Touch Pad?), DVD (definitely playback controls on the Touch Pad), etc. Hope you continue with mockups like this! Very nice work!

That Touch Pad makes Vista look like a SideShow!

Nice mockup.

But,I think there might be a problem with that UI..

The finger-eye link is quite strong in us humans, so we would be very, very strongly tempted to follow our finger on the touchpad, when using it. Thus rendering the display useless(un-neccessary for that period of time.

OR we would be able to train ourselves to mostly (not completely)ignore the visual feedback of the touchpad and concentrate on the display itself. Thus rendering the visual touchpad useless.

That visual touchpad wich would have cost 100€, that would increase the size factor, that would be a extra liability to the longevity of the computer, that would distract you from your GUI/UI,that would have craved a lot of resources in developement and money...

So at this point..nah.

I made a modified version of Noreds mockup. As much as I tried I just don't like the look of the macbook keys on aluminum. Maybe if the keys are metal as well. I'm curious to see how Apple will handle that.

This is my dream MBP. I would pay extra to have a multi-touch trackpad installed. You can control iTunes, watch videos and podcasts, use it to control Logic (virtual mixer), use widgets, etc...

Very nice. A more solid bottom would be a bit more realistic.

Unless you are in a real pinch I would wait until Nov. With X-Mas coming you just know the Macbook will be out soon and should have the new operating system with it. I am waiting.
