Macbook USB port powers but doesn't read

Hi guys

I have a 5 month on Blackbook on which one USB port will power devices (such as mice, HDDs or charge my ipod shuffle) but will not read. Problem is just with one USB port, the other works fine 100%

It used to be that this device would _sometimes_ read now it is more like never...

Any ideas?
