Exclamation iPod Touch turns off after sleep *Help*

Ok, so here is my issue! My iPod Touch 4G 32GB turns off 10 seconds or so after i press the lock/power button... I have restored countless times! On countless computers with countless different cables... Help would be much appreciated as this is my friends iPod! I am hoping it is not a hardware issue! And no, it is not the battery, because it is 100% fine when being used! But as soon as its locked, BAM!
And the only way to power the device back on is to hold both the lock button and home button for 10 seconds.
