I just got the wireless keyboard and can't seem to access the hardware controls (volume, screen brightness, iTunes forward/play/backward, etc.) buttons. Instead, the F* buttons are activated. Say I want to increase the volume by pressing the volume/F12 button, instead of the volume being increased the widgets appear. When I press the fn key while pressing the volume/F12 button, the same thing happens: again only the widgets are appear, without any change to the volume.

Any help out there?

Thanks in advance...

Try going to apple software update and then you should see an update for the wireless keyboard. Hope that helps!!

thanks, that worked. I thought I had done the software update for the keyboard before, but maybe this was a newer version.

Or for anyone else who finds this thread and is having the same problem, you need to have "Use all F1 - F12, etc. keys as standard function keys" unchecked in the keyboard section of keyboard and mouse preference pane, that stumped me for a bit 🙂
