I'm having a problem where OS X won't place any drives on the desktop. I stick a cd in and it spins, but then doesn't show up in the finder or on the desktop.

The same is true for my ipod. I plug it in via firewire, the "do not disconnect" screen comes up on the device, but nothing on my ibook.

I also can't mount drives from the network. I find them just fine, enter the password, but then they never show up.

Any ideas?

did you somehow modify or trash your diskmount helper or Disk Copy application? it's located in Applications>Utilities.

Nope. But I've reinstalled the OS and that seems to have fixed the problem for now. Thanks though.
