Safe to drink opened SoBe left out all night?

Is it safe to drink an opened bottle of SoBe Citrus "Energy" (20 oz. yellow) that was left out all night? Late last night I was thirsty and too lazy to go all the way upstairs to get some water, so I opened a bottle of SoBe that I was planning on drinking this morning. I only took a couple sips before I sealed it tightly and went to sleep. I really don't want to waste a bottle of SoBe if I don't have to. It says on the bottle "Refrigerate after opening". But it didn't need to be refrigerated before opening, so maybe that makes it a little safer. What's your opinion on this? It says it has orange juice concentrate in it. It was probably about 68 degrees Fahrenheit in my room last night. It was out until about 2 PM today. So about 11 hours.


Update: It tastes fine, but still in the back of my mind... it seems risky.

if you're really not sure, don't drink it. But it's probably fine.

The worst that could really happen is that you chunder it up again.

Why do you drink that crap.

Milk and Water is how I roll.

Not even juice.

I am sure it's fine though. Probably plenty of sugar in there to support a new ecosystem but the citric acid probably deters new life forms.

Update: I dumped it. After drinking about a quarter of it, I started feeling a little nauseous. So I suppose you'd rather drink milk left out all night?!?

It should be fine usually refregirate after opening is to prolong the life of the product. If we're wrong let us know if it's orange on the way back

Don't worry all that stuff they toss into the SoBe will kill all the bugs that tried to drink from your bottle while you slept.

But the bottle says it's a "health drink"... I am shocked at all the SoBe haters. I have been drinking SoBe since it first showed up in gas stations around here (don't remember how many years, at least 6).

You have a highly sensitive nose that evolved over millions of years to warn you of stuff that is unsafe to eat or drink.

Smell it closely. If it don't smell good, don't touch it.

If you're still uncertain, put a tiny bit on your tongue.

If it passes both tests, it's probably safe to chug or scoff.

It helps to have experience with food that's obviously off, so that you know what to look for. Also having the intelligence to avoid stuff that looks good and smells good but is known to be stuffed full of sugar or chemicals is a big help.

I don't mean to be rude but anything that appears at a gas stationi first is probably not going to make the top of the list of health drinks/food. I would recommend water and 5 servings of fruits and veggies a day

Wow, I think you just let your emotions get to your head. Those drinks have so many preservatives in them that you could leave it out for a week and still drink it safely.

Don't worry about refrigerating those drinks. I've never noticed anything on there about refrigerating, so I just leave them out. Even though I usually drink them at one sitting, I'm pretty sure that I've left them out overnight unrefrigerated. Never gotten sick afterwards either.

Milk and Water also don't have high fructose corn syrup, taurine, ginseng, caffeine, etc. Nor are they heavily processed and made out of chemicals made in a lab.

I see people drinking these energy drinks at school constantly. I am sure its not good to be drinking 3-4 of them a day. Additionally they look and smell disgusting. I don't even want to taste it. Yes it will give you energy for about 20 minutes, but after that you'll crash.

Milk and Water. No soda, energy drinks, etc. Juice is fine but I personally don't like it.


And what is the point of this thread? Should you drink something that cost you what $2-3.00 thats a day old? Either take a chance or just throw it out, its not like it cost that much.

If you have nothing good to say, don't say anything at all. This is mainly a juice drink, I never drink these for energy. If I want energy, I drink Red Bull or Adrenaline Rush. Both look fine to me and smell good.

He says he doesn't drink juice, well then he must not eat many fruits and veggies, because they contain juice. I am not drinking this for the vitamins, I am drinking it just for the fact that it is better then drinking Pepsi or Coke. SoBe is somewhere between Soda and Iced Tea in my book. Sometimes I don't want an ultra sugary carbonated beverage, but I also don't want a flat tasting glass of OJ. SoBe has a niche market, I like their products personally, but some don't. I'm sure Starbucks Frappacinos aren't much better for you.

Milk is also baby formula for animals that reach adult weights of 1 000 pounds or more.

BTW, the "refrigerate after opening" is probably to slow to degradation of vitamin C in the drink once it is exposed to oxygen. The drink itself was probably fine.
