eMac Hard Drive Temp

I was wondering what the 'normal' operating temp for the hard drive in an emac is supposed to be. According to iStat, the hdd in mine is currently running at 77 degrees C. It has only been on for about an hour and a half. I'm pretty sure no hard drive should operate at this temp. Also, do you have any ideas on how to cool the drive some?

Thx in advance.

Ouch, that sounds like you have a dead fan, no hard should should technically exceed 60C operating temperature.

Yeah, I opened it up to find the fan not plugged in. It now runs at a much cooler 40 degrees C.

Wow, you are one lucky guy, I'm surprised you didn't have actuator arm motor damage at 77C
