New iMac and Media Players

Have a brand spankin' new 24" iMac and have installed VLC on it. Worked like a charm on my old G4 iMac but everytime I try to open something with it, it crashes. Any ideas for VLC or any other media player? I have flip4mac on it and that works ok but does not cover all file types.
Thanks in advance,

Mick

Weird. Try dragging a file named org.videolan.vlc.plist from the Preferences folder to the Desktop whilst VLC is closed.

Thanks for the idea. I'll try that when I get home.

No worries mate. VLC is a great app, so hopefully we'll be able to get it up and running for you again.

I have a brand new 24" iMac and it works great. Did you possibly do the transfer information over when doing the initial setup? I've seen that cause issues in the past. Also, did you repair permissions? I know...the stupid repair permissions fix. I did have an issue with somethings after installing my apps and that did actually fix it believe it or not.

Thumbs up

Thanks all, back up and running. I did what everyone said; I uninstalled and reinstalled, repairing permissions before and after. Trashed the plist file and another one that the documentation suggested. Voila! I'm good to go.
Thank you again for all your help.

Regards,

Mick
