iPod touch Downloading files through Safari

Does anyone know if anything has been done to allow the downloading of files through safari?
 
I'll lie to you:

Yes, it's possible, just click on the file you want to download and then it'll ask you where you want to save it. Choose a location and click "download".
 
Once the file is downloaded in iphone from its Safari (e.g., an mp3 file) can it be moved into the iPod area/playlist for playback?
