I've got a TiBook which would be rather more useful to me if I didn't have to cart around a serial terminal when I was using it for network debugging and switch configuration.

What I really need is a USB-serial device which is sufficiently well supported under macos X, that it appears as a unix character device so I can compile various bits of terminal software for it (telix and friends)

Needs to have ability for soft or hardware or both or neither flow control, speeds down to 300baud and up to about 38400 (higher would be nice). Support for MacOS terminal software would be nice too.

Where should I turn? What should I buy?
