I haven't decided to buy it yet, but if I do, then I will be at Clarendon store, too.

Yeah, well I need VPN and if it is like the last upgrade, VPN stopped working. So, I don't know if I want to risk it or not.

I have not decided if I'm going (might buy online), but if I do, it'll probably be to Clarendon. Bethesda store is too small, and Clarendon would be more fun than being inside the mall at Pentagon City.

I've already preordered and so am planning to spend Friday afternoon and evening busily updating my Macs! I'd initially thought I'd just wait and then run over to the store (Tysons) for the launch but then decided to have the friendly Fed Ex person bring it right to my doorstep instead.

I have not preordered, and do not plan to - wouldn't want a repeat of what happened with my iPod touch preorder!

Anyway, I'll be headed to the Apple Store at Tysons immediately after work. Anyone else gonna be there?

In thinking about this more, even though I'll be getting the shipment from Apple, I think I might just run over to the store anyway to join in the fun and festivities surrounding the launch of the newest version of OS X..... I loved being part of the iPhone launch and so wouldn't want to miss another fun Apple event!

Free T's??

I ordered online. But I think I still will go just to get in on the action.

Anyone know if the Free T's will be for everyone? (while supplies last)

a) park
b) walk over to the line
c) stand in line. Chat about how excited you are about Leopard, and tell people about MacRumors
d) Get Leopard (and a T-shirt)
e) Go home and install
f) go back to playing Halo 3

Okay... f is optional I don't think I'll be doing any food. While a good idea at first, I just don't know about logistics... Before-hands, I want to be on line to get a good spot. Afterwards, I want to go home and install. It would have to be really early (like 4 or before), and I'm still at work then

Question

Dumb question, does anyone recommend when to arrive at the Apple store (Tysons is where I plan to be)? As much as I don't mind waiting in line, I don't know if I should try to arrive 30 minutes before or earlier (4 PM or 5 PM). Not sure of the type of excitement this is generating relative to length of lines. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I am not sure if I will be at Tyson's or Clarendon...leaning towards Clarendon so I can metro home and not worry about traffic.

I am assuming it will be nowhere near as crazy as iPhone launch...I showed up at 4pm to get my iPhone and I was 18th in line at AT&T store.

Im gonna show up around 515-530 hoping that is plenty of time...I don't think Leopard is going to sell out like the iPhone....hopefully

For the iPhone launch I went to Tysons at around 2:00 PM and was 100th in line when later on (at 3:00 or so) the Apple store guys came along and did a head count. I think by that point there were another couple hundred people behind me!

Because people can preorder Leopard to be shipped right to their home I don't think that there will be such long lines as with the iPhone. Actually, I've pre-ordered, but decided I want to experience the fun and excitement at the store anyway!

Probably going to the store at around 4:00 would suffice.... ?

I'll be the redheaded 5'3 woman wearing a MacRumors t-shirt, with a camera slung around my neck! More than likely I'll be playing with my iPhone....

Yeah, I'm going to Pentagon City. I'm supposed to buy an old clear cinema display off a dude there beforehand.

A staff member told me yesterday that they were thinking of closing the store for "about an hour" beforehand and have people line up outside (inside the mall, just outside the store).

What they did with the iPhone launch is to have the line begin near the store and then through the mall down towards Bloomies and then on out the door at the entrance near Bloomies, the Old English Trading Company and the beauty school. They arranged things so that regular mall traffic would not be impeded by all of us crazy Mac folks, and things worked quite smoothly. The store was closed at 4:00 PM and black curtains draped over the windows. At the appointed hour (6:00) down came the black drapes, the store employees stood in the entrance hooting, clapping, cheering, high-fiving, and the first people entered the store.... It was fun!

I imagine a similar scenario today except that some people in line, like me, will already have gotten our hands on Leopard, and I suspect that there won't be as many people there as were there for the iPhone launch. I'm going for the t-shirt and the fun. I also want to pick up yet another external drive....

As I type my MBP is busily transferring some files and folders to one of my external drives and when that's finished then I'll be ready to stick my brand-new Leopard disk (which arrived at 10:15, as promised!)into that machine's slot..... I'm doing the machine with the least amount of stuff on it first and while that's processing I'll be cleaning out my other machines. This is a good project that I really have needed to do for a while anyway.
