I have a power mac 7500/100 with geoports as the serial connection. Most modems i can find are din-8, and geoports have 9 pins. Question is, is there some sort of converter, or if i can't find a modem with a 9 pin connection, do i then have to find an internal modem that will go in a comm slot II?

Thanks...I really need to get this old mac online.

You can connect the din-8 modems to the din-9 serial port. Tha textra pin doesn't matter. That extra pin was supposed to be used by geo-port modems. All that did was that it makes the modem an answering machine and a telephone. You can usea regular din-8 modem on a din-9 port. I don't thonk there's a comm slot in the 7500...

Thanks, that clears that up then. And you are right they are PCI slots, as I just took a look at them.

Thanks

Here is a related question. Do you think I need drivers for a modem? I am running system 8.1.

Thanks
