A friend wants to save 1.4 GB iMovie file onto a disc. But her iMac does not have SuperDrive for burning DVD-R.

Is there a way to split up that 1.4 GB into smaller 600-700 MB parts so that they can be burnt onto CD-R? Can it be done using Disk Utility?

Please help if you have any suggestions.

Toast sometimes allows you to compress things for burning on smaller discs, like dual-layer DVD's burnt to single-layer DVD's.

You could also try Stuffit, that can save things in multiple parts, those parts could then be burnt separately.
