Strange Switcher Question

I'll be switching to Mac OS (Leopard) tomorrow. In Mac finder screenshots I've noticed that the username is always lowercase (e.g. apple as opposed to Apple). Can one capitalize the first letter, or is it a limitation?
 
my home folder is capitalized if that helps.

It all depends on what you type your "short user name" in as when you first set up your Mac. The default is all lowercase. So if your username is "John Doe" then the default short name will be "johndoe"
