EST US - FedEx Delivery Exception

Anybody else have this reported in their Leopard package tracking? Originally I had this morning by 10:30am, but I was just recently updated with a Delivery Exception "Future Delivery Requested" and now my delivery time is pushed back to 7pm today. Apple trying to make sure EST folks receive it as close to 6pm as possible? Only thing I can think of as I surely never made a late delivery request.

mine continues to say by 10:30 AM here in Chicagoland. it is at the local sort facility but does not yet show on truck at 8:00 AM. my iMac is totally ready... the moment the disk comes in the door the massive ERASE begins.

that's unfortunate, perhaps you can go to your local FedEx place and pick it up anytime today.

well mine didn't update to reflect the change until 8:37am...Have to believe it's just a request that Apple made to get us as close to regular store release at 6pm. Mine only got to "At local FedEx facility".....Actually I suspect it could be also a matter of relation to major metro areas. I'm close to the airport sort facility, but not being say in DC proper might also be why the kickback.....just creates a minor headache for me having someone home to sign for it now that's all......kinda like 2nd Xmas emotions today if you know what I mean.

You'll probably still get it before 6. FedEx doesn't update instantly. I checked at 7:30 and the last activity was at 8 PM last night. I checked when I got here to work and it was updated with activity at 5:30 AM and 7:50 AM.

Mine still says today by 10:30am. That's in an hour and 15 minutes.

It left Indianapolis at 7:06am (a little over 2 hours ago). I live in South Jersey.

I highly doubt it's coming before 10:30...

No way. If Apple wanted them delivered later in the day, they would have used a different shipping rate (overnight standard?). Believe it or not, Apple doesn't have that much clout with FedEx. Once the packages are in FedEx's hands, FedEx controls the delivery protocols, not Apple.

Leopard, and hopefully a nice glass of bourbon for when I get home after lunch to start the installs. We have the family pack and I have 5 installs to do today/tonight:-)

Not so sure about that. This morning around 6am tracking showed my package would be delivered by 10:30. At 10am I checked again and saw that my package was on the truck for delivery, but that there was an exception error and the time had been pushed back to 5pm. I called FedEx, and the representative said she didn't see any reason for the exception and that my package should have been delivered by 10:30. She told me she would call the delivery facility, who in turn would check with the driver. She then told me that the delivery facility would call me back when they learned something. The driver showed up with package at 11am and told me that he delivered in as soon as he could. About 15 minutes latter Fedex left a message on my machine that the shipper, "Ingram software" gave them the OK to deliver the package after 10:30am, and that my package would be delivered sometime to day. I'm not sure who Ingram Software is, possibly one of the companies pressing disks, but apparently they instructed FedEx not to deliver before 10:30 am

They are one of apple's distributers, and No, they did not "instruct" FedEx to not deliver before 10:30, but they told fedex that if they can not make all their deliveries by 10:30 that they will grant an exception, and they can deliver after 10:30.

Apple doesn't care what time we get it, Ingram doesn't care what time we get it. They just need to have these "delivery exceptions" documented for when they get the fedex invoice so they know how much to pay.

I still haven't gotten mine (wife is supposed to call) and the tracking site hasn't been updated since yesterday...

I am really excited and worried all at once.

While your explanation makes sense I was simply stating what I had been told by FedEx, that Ingram Software OK'd the delivery for after 10:30. FedEx's tracking system told me the package was on the truck out for delivery at 7:20, and then an exception at 8:45. I believed this to mean that Ingram had told them not to deliver before 10:30, but it certainly makes more sense that what was meant was that it would be OK to deliver after 10:30 am.

FedEx just delivered me my copy of Leopard.

And no, in case you were wondering, it does not come with a t-shirt. If you want one of those, you will need to go to an Apple Store.
