Sweet new screen saver in Leopard!!! (Mosaic)

Wow,
Have you guy seen this yet? SO COOL!

Step 1. Choose any Photo Album in your library
Step 2. For Display Style, select the third option (Mosaic)
Step 3. Let Mac OS X optimize your photos for this screensaver
Step 4. Press test and watch it go through a full cycle... watch it for like 3 minutes.

For a second I thought it was weird how a lot of pictures were doubled, etc... but once you see the end result. Awesome! Gogogo core animation

What do you guys think?

Edit: CRAZINESS (Or I'm just crazy)... put it on fast under options with 100 lines... stare at it for 2 minutes then go back to your desktop. it'll look like your desktop is continually coming out at you and getting bigger.. whoah...

Max out the speed and number of lines under options, and at least on my imac, it was even cooler.

This neat stuff makes up for the fact my VLC is broken.... Kinda.

Haha you were faster at posting this ... I noticed this, too!

I think it's an awesome thing. However, does it also look kinda weird for you when the images are zooming out to show the mosaic, like... pixelated? Or is it just me?

I bet this all is some neat core animation stuff ;-)

Yeah it looks blurry. Probably to optimize speed, plus it doesn't matter how blurry they are when they are far away and you can't see them in that great of detail.

When exiting the screensaver I get a little motion sick for a few seconds but it is totally awesome. I can't wait to show everyone how cool this is. Could anyone take a high res video of the screensaver?

I understand your pain about VLC being broken. Are you having a problem where you resize the window smaller and you lose the progress bar at the bottom?

At first I was like "WTF is this??" But at the end it was pretty bad ass. One thing thats weird though, I chose a folder, but the end result picture used pics from across a bunch of differnet folders. That normal?

edit - I get what it does. You choose the folder you want the final pic from then it uses the rest to make that. Seems pretty taxing on the cpu though. The first pic goes pretty fast, but the ones that follow take a long time.

This is an amazing SS the one problem i had with it though was i spent ages watching it (20 minutes) and then when i went to the desktop everything was moving (wasn't really my brain was just thinking it was) had to stop using the computer but then everything was moving. Had to go and lie down, felt a little sick.

Thanks for posting this. I hadn't noticed mosaic, and it's simply amazing.

The more I play with Leopard, the more I'm loving it. I haven't been this pleased with a new OS release for several years!

I love this screensaver myself but I have a small problem. With my MacBook 2GB core 2 duo/2GB Ram if I try the full speed and 100 lines and it cant handle it. Thats with no processes going and a clean install so I was guessing its the graphics card at fault. Just wondering if nobody else having problems with the same spec or what spec you need to get it working good.. I might pick up an iMac for XMas as I like Leopard so much.
