G5 rev A iMac.. Would disks should it be able to READ?

Hi, As per title..
What disks should a rev A iMac (with stock superdrive) be able to read? I know what it can write, as the apple system profiler tells me that. But it doesnt seem to list what it can read, unless I missed it.

Basically, im having a problem with a dual layer burned disk ive been given. The imac just spits the disc back out again without so much as an error message. I know the drive can read manufactured DL dvd's, like films, and my Leopard install DVD for example. But even if this superdrive isnt capable of burning dual layer discs, surely it should be able to read burned dual layer discs? My rev a MacBook with combo drive can, as can my new alu imac. So why not a G5 iMac?
My old G4 12" powerbook (combo drive) wont read this burned dual layer disk either btw. Same thing happens.

So, 2 PPC macs can not read it, but 2 intel macs can. Cant be an intel/ppc issue can it? Or maybe the older PPC macs dont like the media brand? (Verbatim)

Thanks in advance for any light shed
