hello... recently, i aquired a cheap scanner. not surprisingly, it only came with pc drivers. the manufacturer's website was not very helpful...

i am wondering if there is a generic scanner driver that can run basic pc scanners? has anyone ever given this a try before?

thanks in advance!

Well, what is the brand and model of your scanner? You could try to see if VueScan will work with it.

Look on VersionTracker.com to see if VueScan supports your scanner.

the scanner is made by artec. the model is the E+48U (i think). it's a dirt cheap, poor quality, usb bus powered, pc scanner. still, i would like to get it to work. i think that it would suit my needs.

i tried vuescan. but to no avail... the scanner was unsupported. i also tried using the scanner with windows xp running in virtual pc. windows couldn't find the scanner (even though vpc said that an "artec usb device" is enabled... but that is a whole other can of worms.

any thoughts?
