Smoked Glass Dock Installer

For those that aren't comfortable with the terminal, I've created an installer for both the Smoked Glass Dock and the Default Leopard Dock.

Just mount and install the one that you want.

DockChanger1.1.dmg

A screenshot of what the finished dock looked like would be nice.

Thanks for making an installer though. Will make it easy for those who don't want to deal with the terminal.

Just gave it a try and the Smoked Glass one seemed to keep the front edge of the default dock.

Very nice installer.. sure saved me a lot of time with terminal and copying files.

I dont know if you ever make tutorials, but this little app would make a nice little intro into osx programming/installers etc..

the smoked glass is very reflective, looks more like a mirror than smoked glass, but thats fine, still pretty cool. I think I will stay with the default for now, since I have a black background, but I will be hanging onto the installer for now.

That means the "frontline.png" was not replaced.

Looks like more than just the very edge frontline. Seems like the line where the dots light up is still that frosty default dock.

Don't know. I just tried the installer and that was what I got. Went back to what I had installed.

Ahhhhhh......

Figured it out. The very front edge is more reflective then the back of the dock. It was reflecting the white from the forums

I would like to try out this dock, but if I don't like it, how do I uninstall it? Will it mess with any of the system settings (i.e. cleardock) and cause problems?

thanks.

there was never any need of terminal. But installers are always good. maybe you can make it so that people can import there own images or apply standard effects. In preview you can adjust the image with the sliders, maybe you can let people do that with their dock. just a thought, and id congratulate you if you could do that!

As far as I understand it, the smoked glass installer replaces 4 .png resource files and restarts the dock. Its not a running hack or anything. Theres also an installer to put the original .pngs back so should be pretty safe.

I installed this and did not like the "silver" bit going 1/3 of the way up, so installed the default again, but the "silver bit hasn't gone! I have tried killall Dock, but it is still there!

What file do I need to replace? I have another mac with Leopard I can copy from.

Its not a silver bit, its the reflection of the window above it!! Silly me! it just shows up more on the black glossy dock. Too much I say.

The installer is nice. Any chance of getting a frosted glass (like the default 3d dock) for the 2D dock? I am not a fan of the black look.

if you roll up a dollar bill you can snort some Leopard pixel dust off your smoked glass dock

Can you correct the installer so that it replaces the "frontline.png" also? The white strip at the bottom is really annoying, but everything is awesome. Thanks for the installer!!

Come now, it's obvious you forgot to change the frontline image. I did the same thing when first using DarkDock.

No need to be an ass.
I left it out, as I like the light line in front.
