I installed Leopard over the weekend, and most everything went without a hitch, until I tried to print to my networked Konica Minolta Magicoler 2530DL. I could use the printer's web interface and see statics, config info, etc., and I'd changed nothing in the config of the printer, and verified that my other non-Mac boxes were still talking to it, so I knew that the variable was Leopard. Being a long-time Windows user, but a Mac switcher only since July, I only had a few ideas to try. You long-time Mac guys will probably laugh at my missteps.. I did search the forums here to see if there was anything, but nope. So, I tried deleting and re-installing the printer, re-booting the printer, re-booting the computer.... several times. It didn't change anything. Every time I tried to print a job, it just went to a 'Stopped' state, and that was it. If this'd been Windoz, I'd've been screwed for help at this point. But I remembered that I'd purchased AppleCare, so decided to give them a call. After finally getting through to a person, then re-queued with the wireless guys, I finally got a tech. I was a "little" worried when the guy said he'd never heard of Konica Minolta printers. I assured him *more than once* that the printer *had,* in fact, been working for the last four months on an Apple-provided driver, and that the *only* change I'd made was installing Leopard, and that all other aspects were the same, and all else was working. He had me re-set the printing system, which was something new to learn - point saved for future reference- and that still didn't work. He put me on hold to ask someone else for help. Bottom line; *currently* there *isn't* a driver for the KM 2530 DL. Hopefully, it'll be updated soon. He suggested that I contact the manufacturer. I sent an e-mail this morning, not really expecting an answer. You'd be surprised how many companies *don't* really answer e-mail sent to their contact and support mailboxes. Go figure. Well, contrary to my suspicions, this morning, I received the following:

"From your email comments, I see that you have upgraded your operating system to MAC OS X.5 "Leopard" and now you are not able to print using your Magicolor 2530 DL. This issue has been reported to Engineering and a work around has been arranged until a new driver for this operating system is created. To fix this issue please feel free to download the MAC OS X driver for the Magicolor 2430 DL. This driver was tested with your printer and works. To download the driver please see the link below:

I loaded that driver, and the printer is working once again. This will hold me until Apple comes out with their driver.

I hope that this note serves to help someone here, and save them some time in multiple phone queues, and troubleshooting.

I appreciate help that I've received here, and wanted to give something back.

I can't help but wonder if I'm the only person for several thousand square miles using this particular printer??

Sounds like you got good service, also sounds like your the only person on earth using this printer with Leopard. hahaha, who knows.

I guess they've added your driver request to their infinitely long list of things to fix in the next software update :)

You aren't alone!

It seems everyone, including myself has had problems printing to KM 2530DL after upgrading to Leopard. Apple Discussions have taken up this topic as well (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5666570&tstart=0). Make sure once you've downloaded the 2430 driver that you actually select that driver to print from. This can be done in a couple of ways: when you add a printer through the Print and Fax from within System Preferences, and from the print dialog box. Good luck, everyone.

Your post helped me today!

Just wanted you to know that this is EXACTLY the problem I was having. This has worked for me and I appreciate the post. Printing now!:)

marvinmartian rocks

Yes, I too have a 2530DL, and it was fine until I got Leopard... and now all is well. also wonder if Konica will ever write back to me.

thanks guy!

Thank you so much

This was driving me crazy until I found your advice. All now working properly but very frustrating not to be able to find this info on the Konica Minolta site.

I was beginning to regret installing Leopard in the first place as neither the Konica or my fax machine would work.

Update

I checked in on the previously-referenced discussion on the Apple site recently. A KM 'rep' there projects that the new driver will be out in April. I guess it's a race to see updates their driver first; Apple or KM? :)

Minolta User Thanks You

You can rest easy - not only are you not the only person using this printer and I had the exact same issue. It was just as you said and the link to new driver has saved me! Webhead thanks you!

4 hours of wasted time

Had the exact same issue as you did. Deleted drivers. Got into UNIX scripting somehow - not quite sure. Nothing worked. Finally Googled 2530dl not working in leopard and five minutes later I was up and printing. Thanks for posting the solution.

Konica Minolta Printer Headaches

No, you are not the only poor soul using a Konica Minolta Magicolor 2530 printer. Mine worked fine until I installed Leopard and then nothing in the world would get it to work. I was reduced to Kinkos for color copies for a presentation. I was about to get rid of the printer and start from scratch when I stumbled upon your posting. I cannot thank you enough. You are a trusting soul for believing they would actually answer your request. And so you were rewarded.

Thanks for letting the rest of us benefit from your sleuthing.
