Aperture needs: 2.4GHz or 2.8GHz? 2GB or 4GB RAM?)

I am retunring a freezing 24" 2.8GHz iMac today and will try one more.

My question is what do we really need for Aperture to run the best.

Does the 2.4 or 2.8GHz make a difference?
Will 1-4 GB RAM make a signifacant difference?
 
Depends on your expectations. I've run Aperture on a Dual 1.8Ghz G5 with 1280mb RAM quite happily, but it flies on my MacBook Pro 17" with 2gb...

Generally the more RAM the better. The difference between 2.4Ghz and 2.8 isn't going to be terribly noticeable.
 
Aperture, in it's current state, requires a powerful graphics card more than anything. 🙂

That said, as a heavy user, I'd say ram AND the proc will help. I just moved from a 2.3Ghz G5 Powermac with 4GB ram, to a 2.8Ghz iMac with 4GB. I don't really know how the lower end machine, 2.4 with less ram, would run, but I can say the 2.8 is more than satisfactory, and considering Aperture is due for an update, or at least I hope, I'd say go for all the machine you can afford.
