My keyboard doesn't work when...

My keyboard works perfectly, I can send e-mail or write text using any of the software. But when I create a new folder on the desktop, or I want to relabel a folder, my keyboard does not work. I press all the key, and nothing show up, I can not even copy something from another place and place it as a label...Could anybody help me, please???

May is a combination of keys that I have push by mistake that has turned off something. but if I go back to word for example, the keyboard works well.

Many thanks to anybody who has the solution to this,
