Steve Jobs Rated Most Powerful Businessperson

Fortune magazine has ranked Steve Jobs as the most powerful person in business in its annual ranking of the 25 most powerful people in business. Fortune also posts an article on The Power of Steve Jobs.

Of course, these types of rankings are very subjective. To support their ranking, Fortune points to Jobs' deep influence on not only the computer industry, but Hollywood, music, retailing, and wireless phones.

Congratulations Jobs!

Just need a bit more power to stop more music companies from pulling out of the iTMS.

That's very interesting. Obviously Jobs commands a lot of power within Apple but I hadn't really considered his wider influence - which is of course increasing all the time.

Not a particularly good rating to have for future deals, as content providers will be much more wary now...

He must be so relieved

Poor Steve, now he can finally move past his insecurities and realize he has value.

In other words, does this guy need an ego boost? Ugh.

And lastly, kudos to Fortune for giving us the hard-hitting business journalism readers crave. Is this really any different from People's "Sexiest Man Alive" annual?

Thumbs down to everyone involved, including me for bothering to comment on this nonsense.

not surprising given his influence if so many areas. but i'd say most influential over more powerful.

Gee, I hope Steve doesn't hear about this. You don't think this could go to his head, do you?

Unless Steve did them himself. Then I'm sure they're accurate.

Actually I got nothing. The man's more interesting by light years than any other biz guy in decades, runs an incredibly tight ship, and his life and actions are more fascinating than any of our current crop of politicians.

Because executives were ignorant of this man called Jobs and his fruit company until Fortune clued them in.

No, a lot of hackers are using Macs because of Mac's stability, security, and ability to boot into multiple OS (Linux, Windows, UNIX = Mac OS), they prefer not to write viruses for macs at this time.

Good job for the recognition.... Go Steve!

is the apple world so void of news that this is all we get today? While I think Steve Jobs is powerful, and has his fingers in wide assortment of industries, I would not consider him the most powerful. Give Apple (and in turn SJ) about 5 years and then we can see how his scemes continue to play out and if he has the power. A bit premature if you ask me.

While I agree that Jobs is an increasingly powerful businessman, is he really the most powerful? I might say he is the most powerful in the consumer electronics or technology sector, but I really don't think you can compare CEOs across industries or market sectors.

He has power over everyone except Intel.

He can't seem to get Penryn processors any faster than anyone else.
