Trying to Play Myst IV under VMware Fusion

I'm trying to play Myst IV: Revelation in Windows XP, running under VMware Fusion 1.1. The problem is that the in-game mouse behavior is really sensitive -- that is, if I just move the mouse a little bit, the mouse jumps way across the screen. So it's unplayable as-is.

I've got the DirectX support turned on in the VM, and I've tried setting the "vmmouse.present=FALSE" option in my VMX file (per the VMware release notes). Can anyone else suggest something that might make this work?
