Pantone Black or Pantone Process Black?

Hi - I always use Pantone Black C for all spot jobs (logos and stationery mainly) If the client wants a grey I use a solid Pantone Grey, never a tint.

However I have a client who insits on having a 1 colour job and wants a black and a grey - making a tint though from the Pantone Black C appears yellowy / brown (bit like the RGB - CMYK converted black)

However when using Pantone Process Black C - a tint looks more like grey.

This makes me wonder what is the best Black to use? What are the differences?

Just request a standard process black (K)... the Pantone Blacks (barring Process) all have a cast to them for solids that need a little warmth or depth. When half-toned, they exhibit the cast more clearly, which is nice when you want it, but not when you don't.
 
Is it just stationery? Large areas of black on heavier papers benefit from a cyan shiner behind.
