DirectX10 card for mac? (bootcamp)

Is there, or will there be a Macintosh graphic card that supports DirectX10 ?

Well, if you mean supporting it under bootcamp, then the 8600s in the MBPs and the 2400/2600s in the imacs already support DX10.

What about MacPro Dual-Core Intel Xeon... are there any cards that support directX 10. (currently have RadeonX1900)

DX10 has nothing to do with OS X, so in that sense - no, never.

As Muncher mentioned, the 8600 and Radeon HD2xxx cards support DX10 in Windows. The next range of cards for the Mac Pro will as well (the current cards do not).

Yes I know that it does nothing for OSX... I posted this on the "Windows on the MAC" forum, and Microsoft VISTA programs DO support DirectX 10. Will the 8600 or Radeon HD2 cards come to the mac -or are you saying it will never happen? Can you only have an OpenGL or DX10 card or can they produce one card that supports each?

The stock card will likely continue to be a sub-35W card, so if you can see any DX10 cards running about 30W they may make the cut -- with the other card company getting a 135-140W card.

And a Quadro update will likely again make the cut, but it isn't a good gaming card anyhow since the drivers aren't optimized for that.

Interesting... so, DX10 gaming via bootcamp may not happen anytime soon? How about 3D Graphic Programs... do they take advantage of DX10 or is this really only for games?

DX10 is for gaming. It is not necessary for gaming though. DX10 is sort of a bust right now from what I can see. No real advantage and worse framerates. OpenGL is better for 3D graphics work.

Well, 3D apps (not games) usually do not require a high level of realism in realtime, so DX9 or OpenGL are probably better for them anyway. DX10 gaming over bootcamp is possible now with vista and an aluminum imac or new MBP. In fact, I'll be buying vista soon with the hopes of doing just that (although imac will be hard-pressed to keep up
