Hi guys!

My combo drive is out of order. Its not reading any DVD/CD and I'm in need to clean install my Mac OS X Tiger. To add to my woes, I don't have an external DVD drive but I do have an external HDD. Is there a way I can copy the image of the DVD on my external HDD and run a setup from there? Help needed please!

You can only copy the image if you are willing to wipe the external drive (to do this use disk utility to image the DVD then restore that to the external drive). Easier is to use another Mac and boot the one you want to install Tiger on in target disk mode.

using disk utility you can 'restore' the DVD image to your external drive directly too, without wiping the disk (just don't tick the 'erase source' box).

;)
