How do you turn this off? Why do we need it?

I burn Cd's on windows as well but i don't need to verify anything why is this so on OSX.

Even YuBurner does this and i thought you could turn if off from there.
 
Huh?

Do you mean the part after the writing is finished and it says 'verifying'? If you do, then I don't think that can be disabled. I believe its purpose is to make sure that the data that was written matches what is supposed to be there as a form of error-checking.

It's easy in Disc Copy. Don't know about other applications...
