iTunes: i cannot delete my music

hi guys.

i have mac os x.5, and iTunes 7.5.

i cannot delete my music. i mean, on the edit menu, the 'delete' option is not active.

has anybody heard about this before? i tried google and the search function here on MR, no go.

You probably have done this, but make sure you are in the music "library", as opposed to a playlist. I don't believe the delete option is available for songs you are looking at inside a playlist.

i am in the music library. and i still cannot delete the music. i am the admin of my mac. i have corrected the permissions. fscked the computer...

but i still cannot delete duplicate songs...

Huh, that is quite strange... You tried everything I would have suggested... except...

Backup your iTunes Library file manually, with iTunes closed. Now... delete the original. Open up iTunes and see what happens.
