I would like to annonuce that my G5 arrived today and I was quite excited. The new addition to the family is Dual 2.0 GHz with 250 MB hard drive and an ATI 9600 video card.

After a few hours of breaking down the old system and setting up the new one, my office is now in order. The kids are set up on the left with an eMac 1.0 GHz. I'm on the right with my G5 featuring a 17" Studio Display and a set of JBL Creatures.

I think I will be happy for a while. :D

I think you mean "debt". After years of having a hodge-podge of miss matched furniture and very out dated computers, I decided to bite the bullet and enter the modern world.

The only thing I don't like is that the tower would not fit inside the lower cabinet. Those G5's are BIG. :D

Thanks much for the compliments. I'll give some feedback in a few days after I've had time to play with it.

I guess I'm not the only one that's a "little" annoyed that the G5 tower is so much larger than the G4 towers. Seriously though, with the cubic dimensions, it's something like 35% larger.

Did you notice there's almost no way to add anything in the way of storage to the inside? Not even power for more than one extra device, and that one pretty much has to be native SATA (although I'd like to try a Parallel to SATA adapter anyway, just to see if it'd work. It might not even fit.

Anybody know alot about external SATA?

Yeah sure, and 64KB of RAM and 8-bits were enough. :D
