MacRumors Hiring Web Designer, Macworld 2008 Exhibitor Coverage, End of Sale

Seeking Web Designer - We are looking a professional web designer or team who would be interested in potentially participating in a MacRumors site and forum redesign. Also interested in ongoing relationship for additional projects outside of MacRumors. Ideal candidate would be a MacRumors reader(s) who is familiar with the workings of the site and forums and would be able to retain the basic feel of the site while modernizing the design. The site uses a custom Content Management System for the front page, and vBulletin for the forums, so vBulletin experience would be a plus. Please contact us via our web form with the subject of "Web Designer Inquiry" and please include links to previous work.

Macworld Expo 2008 Exhibitors - Macworld Expo 2008 is upon us. MacRumors will be providing our traditional MacRumorsLive keynote coverage as well as expanded exhibitor coverage this year. In MacRumors-style, instead of exhaustive coverage of every new product, we will only focus on a few of stand-out products. If you would like to be considered to potentially reach some of our 3.9 million unique monthly visitors, please contact us via our web form with the subject of "Macworld Exhibitor". Any press embargoes will be honored. For readers, our MacRumorsLive coverage will be back with notable improvements based on previous feedback.

MacRumors MWSF Reader Meetup - If you are interested in joining us in a casual meetup at Macworld, please express your interest in this forum poll. The meetup would take place in the evening on Monday, January 14th.

MacUpdate End of Sale - MacUpdate's Mac App Bundle is coming to a close, with only 2 days left. Three new applications have been included, bringing the total number of applications to 13. Pricing (which started at $49.99) has started to increase gradually as the deadline approaches, so now is the time if you are considering this bundle. (MacRumors is a promotional partner of MacUpdate's and sales of this bundle support this site.)

Hopefully it wont be too many years until we get live video...right now I switch between the great MR coverage and Engadget due to the better quality pics

That would be nice but I don't think it would ever happen. Apple Legal would be giving MR a call unless MR somehow cleared it with them first. (Which is unlikely)

Heres an idea for the forum/site redesign - how about we all get together (I would imagine there are plenty of talented designers here) and throw together all of our skills and make an awesome awesome site -- some people do the icons, others do some coding etc...

What you guys think? I'm all up for such an idea

A complete nightmare of organisation, delegation and renumeration. Best to farm it out to a small experienced setup who know what they're doing.

Design by committee is not the answer.
There are plenty of talented designers who could handle the whole project.

I pray for a unified, simple, beautiful design.

Couldn't agree more. Horrible to work on and guaranteed horrible 'design'.

The site has been begging for a re-design since the last re-design.

BTW. I think you meant remuneration. I don't think the site needs 're-numbering'?

Sounds great arn! I'm looking forward to the site re-design, and Macworld Expo of course. Just one request: make it easy on the eyes.

Just got my MacBundle... Bit silly to turn down an offer like that, and the mind map software looks snazzy... I need to do script ideas anyway

question for arn

about the redesign, any chance that we could have a contest where everyone could submit mockups of their ideas and so the community gets to vote - since I mean ultimately it is for the community

Seems pretty obvious this sale isn't going as well as hoped... but sorry, I didn't see anything remotely tempting in there.

Oh shoot I'd love to do this, beamed off an email too. Maybe they'll be interested, but it wasn't exactly my most formal of emails.

Still, I've done forum stuff before I'd have to beg Mindfad to do the icons, though.
