Drain battery if plugged in during sleep mode?

Is it true that if I leave my iPhone plugged in at night and my computer is in sleep mode, that it will drain my iPhone battery?
 
Im not sure but I dont think so. My iPhone sometimes stays overnight pug in and is fully charged in the morning.
 
It should drain normally, but it certainly will not get a charge since the USB ports go to low power or off.
