Is there some way to create a new file from a selection in Preview? Say I wanted to grab part of a page from a .pdf file (e.g. a portion of text, or a vector image), and create a separate file, a new .pdf, from it. How can I do this whilst retaining the benefits of it being a vector based image or actual text. If I do it using the screen grab shortcut, it obviously gets rendered as a .png or whatever other bitmap before being saved, causing a reduction in quality.
Any suggestions?
