Thanks Steve! -- Leopard kills Photoshop 7

Apple is now Microsoft. They really don’t give a sh+t about customers. Imagine selling Leopard and not telling the 10s of millions who use photoshop 7 that it will kill the program — you can’t even open it.

Lovely -- corporate greed trumps respect for the customer every time.

The same crap happened with iphone updates and there are a myriad of disasters associated with Leopard. I have wasted DAYS on this... days that I am not earning money for my family.

So don't use the word's "LOYAL CUSTOMER" and "APPLE" in the same sentence anymore... those days are gone forever. I have been an Apple customer since APPLE II, I have purchased over 60 machines for my business over the years, and tons of software, updates, ipods, etc. Thanks Steve - I know know what you think of my loyalty to your brand.

I know, I won't be using Leopard because it doesn't run a 6 year old piece of software which hasn't seen any updates in several years!

Unlike Microsoft, who do their best to support 'legacy' software, fail miserably, and as a bi-product, end up with an OS which has all the same flaws their OSes 20 years ago suffered from.

Two Points:

1) Photoshop 7 is 5 years old, how long would you like it to be supported?

2) It's Adobe's job to make it compatible with Leopard, not the other way around.

God Apple, why don't you still support OS 9 with the newest iWork, iLife, iTunes and so on!

You're really hurting you base!

But no, really...that Adobe's job to upgrade their software, and when the stop upgrade it, they want you to buy a new copy.

Like said before me: It's not apple's responsible for PS 7 for leopard issue.. apple doesn't make PS 7, it's Adobe software .. if you got a beef on PS 7 for leopard then you should direct your issue to here

10s of millions? Really? I'm sure you have proof to backup that claim.

If you are relying on Photoshop 7 to earn your living, perhaps you should've researched the Leopard compatibility issue prior to upgrading.

The tone of your post is pretty much trolling.

Yeah, Apple sucks. Leopard won't run my copy of Adobe Pagemaker 1.0 from 1987 waaah!

1. Compatibility issues are, as others have said, Adobe's problem, not Apple's.

2. If you make your living with Photoshop, version 7 isn't a sensible choice in 2008. Time to upgrade....

I've already switched over to Pixelmator, which I can highly recommend. Let's face it, if you really needed all the Photoshop features you'd be on CS2 at least, so why not go to a cheaper package?

Imagine a loyal Apple customer installing Leopard without checking whether the long out of date business critical software they are using is compatible or not? And after 60 machine purchases, yet.

Bullet, meet foot. Ow.

You spent what... $129 bucks on leopard but can't pay $199 to upgrade from 7 to cs3?

I'd like if Microsoft let me upgrade my windows 3.1 license to for that little a price. Btw Adobe will upgrade your license from any version as far as I know.

apple' support for legacy apps are considerably worse, yes, maybe its because apple put out OSX every 2 years+smaller market share.

But Still, photoshop 7 IS old. I don't understand, like somebody else mentioned, you can pay $129 for an OS upgrade that doesn't really change much things for your old machine, but can't pay $199 for a photoshop upgrade which brings significant improvement?

Finally, its silly to be loyal to some commercial companies who really just want your money, you can be loyal to king, queen, president, mozilla, world peace. as long as you are the decider... no commercial companies deserve your loyalty.

Wow, that looks impressive. And it's way more affordable than Photoshop.

Thanks for that link!

Like everyone said, it's a good idea to check what programs will and will not work on Leopard. For the most part, anything compiled under 10.2 will not work.

As for legacy programs that ran in OS 9... What are you thinking? Most companies don't even support OS 9 programs anymore! Why waste your time in the past when there are better programs, like Pixelmator, that are cheap and do what you want!

Besides, if you add the costs up, it's cheaper to run an up-to-date OS with programs than working with an old OS and programs for it.

If you doubt what I say, go to an Apple Store and have one of them demonstrate how easy it is to use Leopard.
