I bought my Imac in August and since then I've always had problems with it due to the video card problem (which is now fixed last month) Now i'm hearing that a new imac is comming out already........ If so is the resell value of the imac good?

I think apple owes me a new imac seriously... .Esp when you bought the imac in august and had a problems with it until a month ago... I couldn't play the simplest game without it freezing
True but the new imacs will have a whole new proccesor speed..... There was a whole year gap between the last imac and it was hardly updated? Whats the difference awhole 200mhz difference? And ati card that might be worse then the old nvidia card on the white imacs?
But it's fixed now 😕
What if the new one (if there is a new one) has teething problems?

I'm seeing my even older iMac (white 24") selling for nearly as much used, as it was new.
But generally speaking - this is life when it comes to technology, there is always something better, just around the corner. I thought this was a widely known thing?
On the flip side - say they do make a "new" iMac - and it has serious problems - it might (if only temporarily) up the value of your "old" imac.

You're talking as if there are new models out already. It's all just rumours mate.
I'd be very surprised if they update them so soon.

I feel your pain. I purchased a Powerbook G4 2 weeks before the Macbook Pros came out.
But...
Part of being a 'smart' shopper is to look @ the product life cycles. It's been speculated for some time now that Apple will revise the IMac @ MWSF. The timeline is also pointed out in the Buyer's Guide.
I wanted to buy the new Imac back in August, but I saw the guide. Then later on I saw the vid card problems, and since I didn't 'need' it, I decided to wait until Jan.
I wouldn't worry about it too much, especially if they are minor speedbump improvements. If you need it, then buy it....Computers are updated anywhere between every 4-6 months, so why beat yourself up over it?

What in the world makes you think a new iMac is coming out anytime in the near future? They just came out with new ones this summer. There are a whole lot of other products due for updates in line ahead of the iMac. In fact, except for the Macbook, the iMac is right back at the end of the line. May as well try to be happy with what you have.

I think that statement can probably shut this post down.
A smart and informed consumer will make a good call based on information. If the consumer is reactionary they will buy then b!tch. If they read up, did some research prior to commiting then they have only themselves to blame.
It's typical in consumer purchasing. We see the latest and have to have it. I didn't buy my iMac until late August after reading the issues people were having. I felt for my needs I could live with it and Apple will fix it when they fix it.
If a newer one comes out then fine so be it. As many users posted, that's life and that's life in the computer world. PC's are worse than cars. The old saying "soon as you drive it off the lot, it's depreciated." With pc's it's "as soon as it comes off the factory it's already 4 weeks behind"
We're currently on a tech upslope and will be for the next few years, then level off then climb back up.
This is no different on the Windows PC side, it's just those guys tend to hang onto designs and milk them for a couple years before releasing new stuff. Heck, at my last job I waited to upgrade my machine waiting for the next version to come out. When it did I got it and found out they were already outmoding it for the next version (damn ibm stinkpads!) so it's all boils down to 3 words.

These are the specs that I'm guessing the next iMac will have...
- 30 inch screen (with touch screen capability)
- 8-core processor
- 1 TB hard drive
- 4 GB RAM
- Blu-Ray Drive
Well, maybe that won't happen.

If a new iMac is released it will likely be a minor bump in speed. (Probably the addition of Penryn CPU's).
There is no way in hell there will be a radical design change!
