Finding out Stolen iPod's serial #

Well as I posted, my iPod got stolen and if I want to make an insurance claim I need to get the serial number. I registered it with Apple could they tell me it? Does the mac keep a record of what it was? Is it anywhere on the box?

yupp, on my gen 3 ipod box, there is a big sticker on the bottom with the model nember serial number..
