just got a mac mini with leopard on it and i wanted to know if safari or maybe firefox has a function to block certain words?

Besides my extreme quarrel with actually doing this, this image shows about all there is for profanity filter in the Parental Controls.

Why would you do that? wouldn't be best to educate your children when it is and isn't appropriate to use that language?

What is this, Puritanism in 2008 by clueless parents?

That's it attack the person's parental choices.🙄 Do you really know this person or are you jumping to conclusions?

Think man! (or woman) this is a forum, treat people like you would any other stranger on the street. There is nothing wrong with a little civility or formality or for that matter, anyone desiring to block language on a device that they own. It's a legit question. It has nothing to do about puritanism or censorship but a simple question.

Looking at #6 above, I think the OP wants this feature for him/herself. If you don't like bad language there's no reason to be subjected to it if there's a way round it.

You should always use a user account as your main anyway, but that won't get you completely around this problem. Best of luck in finding a solution though.

haha and you're calling me clueless 🙄

Freeverse (awesome bunch of guys) makes a browser just for OS X with all the control you could want. http://www.freeverse.com/apps/app/?id=5003

This includes blocking foul or offensive language.

If you want to stick with Firefox, Procon, a Firefox addon, has the ability to filter content and language: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1803

Many thanks WildPalms, and everyone else 😉

procon is perfect for now and i have also bookmarked Freeverse
