I just took delivery of two new 2x2Ghz G5's for my design practice. One has a weird problem... hope someone can help.

Basically, there is a small red light just behind the front case, which has been flickering on and off intermittently on one of the machines. The main fan comes on at the same time, turning the quiet G5 into a loud hairdryer.

This light supposedly shows when the air deflector is not in place properly, but it is perfectly seated in the machine. The fan is clearly seated properly, as it comes on.

I have fitted RAM to both Mac's - it's in the right slots, for sure.

Any ideas? And anyone know where I can find a utility that shows the processor load? I wondered if something was running the processors at full load and causing a lot of heat.

Thanks!
