Note the poll in the lower right asking which service people plan on using.
iTunes is in the lead by quite a margin right now.

Wow! that is something!
iTunes has twice the support of Napster currently, and almost twice the support of all the free services. Truly unexpected for a trans-platform rag like USA Today. |

Did you notice their remarks about whether each service worked with iPod? I thought that quite important. I would hope they were giving iPod credit for being the gold standard of players and not that WMA is coming to crash the party.

i like how none of the other ones are or planning on be available for anything but windows except iTMS and that they compare weather it can be played on the iPod.

interesting that they mention the total number of songs iTMS has as being the 200,000 they had at launch, yet ones like buymusic.com are listed at numbers like 315,000, which certainly isn't what they had at launch (they said they had 300,000, but ended up having more like 200,000). I'd be interested to hear Jobs say how many songs are currently on iTMS on the 16th.
I'm still kind of in awe of the media blitz recently for napster. I mean, it was even on all my local newscasts... strangely, the last time I heard something computer related (that didn't deal with porn etc) on my local news was about... napster. Odd. I certainly never heard a peep about anything Apple does... maybe this is why I hate the news media's spin... |

They forget why.
The reason Apple is successful is that you can use the music the way you want to. Copy it to your other computer, burn it on a CD to play in your car or put it on your iPod. Why would I pay for digital music if I can't do at least that stuff? I'll just buy the CD and rip it on my mac. Apple seems to be the only company doing this and it right.
These services need to think about services and compelling reasons to make people want to download music.
