I've searched this thread, but didn't come up with anything related to this question specifically...

My TimeMachine back up drive has filled up (which I knew it would do eventually).

I'm curious if I really need to backup my iTunes folder. Since my iPod is essentially a backup of what's on my computer? Should my computer crash, I believe I can restore my iTunes using my iPod (utilizing various available applications that allow you to transfer tunes from the iPod to a computer).

Just thought this might be a way to save some space on my TM drive.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Go to Time Machine Preferences

System Preferences -> Time Machine.

Click the 'Options' button and add your 'iTunes Music' folder to the list of excluded items.
This won't save space once they're already backed up. You'll need to go to your first backup (it Time Machine) and delete the folder there.
