Do I have to upgrade to 9.2 before installing Tiger (I have updated Firmware)

Okey,

For some reason my G3 iMac 400mhz 512MB RAM, doesn't like me trying to install 9.21 and asks for my instal disk (which I don't have).

As I have a Retail Tiger Disk, can't I just chuck that in and start from new - I have the highest Firmware thing 4.1.9?

Sorry if it is a silly question, but I am a silly person.
