Am I the only one who can't understand why there aren't hd rentals available that I can watch on my mac mini?

Could it be that the studios wanted guarantees that (for piracy reasons) the HD content couldn't be removed from the rental device and Apple can't lock your Mac mini down as tightly as they can lock down the AppleTV?

It is the HDCP issue. Studios would not allow it otherwise. Just remember that we are still in the infancy of online rentals...despite what the providers tell you.

Two things,

1. Everyone was complaining on the ATV forum that you could just use your Mac Mini as an ATV if you want DVD player and other features. Well glad I didn't listen atleast at this point.

2. ATV has Component output which is not digital so don't think HDCP is an issue.
