Yes! Sweet! I've been waiting for this game for years now. Unfortunately, I doubt it'll run well on my MacBook. Guess I'll have to get the Windows version.

It's about time, I thought they had given up on this game.

Heh, I personally thought this game died out on the vine.

Maybe its like Duke Nukem Forever.

That was obvious really. It's coming out on every platform known to man, it's the next "The Sims".

I hope they make some kind of web interface to link them all. Say you have it on your Mac/PC and you're away. It would be nice to log onto some site and do a little tweaking, or whatever you do in Spore. That'd push it outside the box.

Currently their site still says the following... LOL
"No, you cannot pre-order the game. If you see some online store saying "We are taking pre-orders", they're just trying to get your money (they usually also make up their own supposed "insider release date info", too). There is no release date set, we are not taking pre-orders for the game. End of story."

Spore will be great on multi platforms! Will definitely get it.

Nice. What's notable isn't that Spore is coming to the mac (almost all of Maxis' games have made it, and The Sims is a gigantic hit on the mac) but that it's going to be a simultaneous release. Let's hope EA delivers on its promises.

Yeah, that's what I though – simultaneous release ftw!

It'll most likely to be Intel only cider port... But I'll get the mac version over the windows version any time.

I hope you all remember that every single of TransGaming's ports were buggy, slow or had graphical glitches.

People don't realize that this isn't like an Aspyr or MacSoft port where they actually develop the game for mac or even like previous Sim games -- this is just a wrapper to a windows game.

Anyone who played C&C3 with BootCamp as well as C&C3 'mac' will know the performance hit as well as other glitches.

EA is trying to get the quick buck -- they failed last time because games were so late after the PC releases...

I know, Spore looks amazing and has been in development forever, and I hope its a good port, but it's really really really reliant of improvements of this 'wrapper' and not good coding hours by an actual mac gaming shop.

Good news indeed. Time to cancel my year and a half old pre-order for the Windows version and reorder for the Mac.

I played spore today on an Imac at Macworld. I was amazed at how highly easily customizable the creatures really are. No multiplayer, but I'm still definitely buying it for sure!

a simultaneous release is great - but how quickly do you think they'll release the expansion packs compared to the windows release.

actually - how close were the expansion pack releases for the sims/sims2?

This is great news for Mac Gamers. Let's just hope it's not a crappy port that plays twice as well in Boot Camp... which is probably will be.

Why can't everyone be as good as Blizzard.

I hope they take the Blizzard approach and have the disc be a hybrid (PC and Mac version on the same disc)

That way if the TransGaming port sucks maybe I will consider using bootcamp
Really I wish they would just go all the way like Blizzard and do a truly native Mac version.

You've heard a lot about this game, but can't explain the hype? I'm scratching my head over this one.

Simultaneous?

Would this be like the 'simultaneous' releases of Madden 2008, and Tiger Woods 2008?
