Upgrade from G5 Tower to iMac

Hi I am an owner of a DC 2.3 G5. I do the usual web surfing, itunes email stuff. I also use adobe creative suite 3 and mainly work in photoshop. The one game I play is Flight Simulator X in windows XP. The PC I use for this is showing its age and needs to be replaced. I was thinking with bootcamp I would just have one desktop. I would like a Mac Pro but it is out of the budget for now. Has anyone gone from a G5 tower to a 24” iMac and are you happy or any regrets?

We've gone from a G5 to an iMac on one of our stations at work, and I gotta tell you, the iMac leaves the G5 for dead. Real nice piece of hardware IMHO

clean plate, move down.

second the above post. i went from dual G5 1.8 to several intel systems, but not the 24" imac. yet. the 17" imac 1.83/128mb x1600 system i have kicks the crap out of the G5. shame really, i loved that G5!

move on/up. max the ram. everything you do will be faster, quieter, and look better. really. best of luck.

The new iMacs with Leopard are a great combo. Very speedy. Get the 24" The screen is well worth the extra money.

I have a 1.8 PowerMac G5 but I can't bring myself to get just an iMac. Even though I'm a student, it seems like it would be a downgrade or at most a sidegrade.. and I already have a screen.

Thanks for the opinions. What about heat buildup when the computer is under heavy stress. I ask because the flight simulator X runs well on my MacBook Pro but the machines GPU goes up to 80C.
