My video camera uploads to my computer in .avi format, and iMovie won't open/edit any .avi files. It seems to only way to edit an .avi file on a Mac, is to get software that can edit .avi files, or convert the .avi file into .mpg or some other format compatible with iMovie. If converting is the way to go, what program should I use to convert an .avi file? - it has to be free software.
